Few HOF inductions have had the impact of Satchel Paige's moment in the sun at Cooperstown in 1971. Paige's induction -- the 1st based mainly on a career spent mainly in the shadows of the game in the Negro Leagues -- was baseball's long-overdue admission that it had kept deserving men of color out of the game. Yet the honor still showed how long the game had to go, as the original plan was to put him in a separate wing of the Hall, until public outrage led Commissioner Bowie Kuhn to nix that scatterbrained idea. The great Satch proudly signed this commemorative 3.5 x 5.5 HOF postcard in black marker in the yellow border above the image of his plaque. Signature and card are NRMT.
