Amazing collection of Cuban photographs culled from over a decade of scouring. There is some great stuff here, and each image is very difficult to find, let alone all at once like this. Includes: Willie Mays head shot as a member of Almendares team, stunning Raymond Brown image on a city street in full Cuban Stars Negro League duds, three of Cienfuegos (the Castro compatriot that mysteriously “disappeared”) with the Triple-A Cuban Sugar Kings, interesting snapshot of Martin Dihigo on the field, Minnie Minoso Marianao celeberatinions (3), Almendares team celebrating with booze, famed funeral of the Havana lion with Mike Gonzalez, Don Zimmer picking his bat for Cienfuegos, Marianao team celebrating World Series win, and many, many more. The list of the players shown is endless: Quincy Trouppe, Formenthal, Max Patkin, Lennox Pearson, Luque and Reyes together, Pedro Ramos, Spook Jacobs, etc. There is great on the field action, posed shots of multiple teammates, even some brawls. All are first generation originals, most with photographer’s stamps on the verso and many with captions from the original newspaper articles these were used to illustrate. A very special collection averaging about 6x8” and VG-EX.
