The 32-page, staple-bound program (EX) for the 1958 NBA All-Star Game is a basketball history lesson in one rarely found package. The NBA was never an organization to shrink from advertising, as these ad-packed pages attest. Stan Musial and Biggies' steak and lobster house gets a prime cut at the bottom of the cover. The brewery-ful of beer ads makes sense because the game was in St. Louis. As the rosters and scoresheets for each quarter (!) show, the East was represented by Bob Cousy, Bill Sharman, Bill Russell, Dolph Schayes and other luminaries. The West featured local Hawks heroes Slater Martin, Cliff Hagan and Bob Pettit, who signed the autographs section, plus Maurice Stokes. Oldies but goodies -- and no baggie shorts.
