This brilliant second sacker succeeded on every level in the game, 1st as one of Connie Mack's "$100,000 Infield", as an "honest" member of the "Black Sox", then as GM of the Red Sox who discovered Ted Williams and Bobby Doerr on one scouting trip! Items include Collins in White Sox uni about 1920, standing with bat on shoulder a la Ty Cobb and his T206. 8.5x6.5”. Couple of small and minor edge creases o/w NRMT. Also, a brilliant bust shot with the White Sox in home pinstripes. NY Sun stamp on verso. 6.75x4.75”. Minor pinholes to corner o/w EX+. Best of the bunch: a classic image as a young upstart with the Philadelphia Athletics he is all piss and vinegar. Batting with his A’s elephant sweater (wow!) in actual game action. Circa 1911 based on cap and leggings. 8.5x6.5” and EX+. Paul Thompson stamp on verso.
