Classic 19th Century baseball bat manufactured by Wright & Ditson, founded in 1871 and purchased by Spalding in 1891. All three founding members played for the Boston National League team in 1877. Lovely bat measures approximately 40" long and has "Wright & Ditson" burnt onto the middle of the barrel. Barrel is only slightly thicker than the handle and features multiple darker colored "rings" around the bat. Vintage piece of lumber has darker coloration on the handle and at the top of the barrel. Color is exemplary and you rarely see these scarce bats in such fine condition.
