Jackie wrote this check to "cash" for 50 bucks on June 22, 1948 during his second season in Brooklyn. Although his smashing of baseball's color line was a stupendous success, he still had to endure horrendous pressures and hold his temper in the face of racist players and fans. Yet he always had an easy smile for the cameras, as in the 10 x 12" photo mounted with the light blue check in an impressive wood frame. Signature in blue-black ink is one of the nicer Robinson ones, a vibrant 9/10. Check NRMT.
