Phil Niekro, who always did find creative uses for his fingers on the mound as one of history's best knuckleball pitchers, actually hand-carved this one-of-a-kind (to say the least) cane for a charity event. Shaped like a baseball bat with a fish perched by a fin on the knob -- and three fingers emerging from its mouth in a knuckleball grip! Shaft is engraved "Phil Niekro Fish Fry 1986, Spina Bifida." Cane is 33" long, not including the fish, and the entire piece is gorgeously lacquered. Surely the most inventive piece of whittling we've ever seen, or can imagine.
