In his years as Commander and Chief Ronald Reagan signed many many things. But not many items he autographed are as odd as the vintage 1966 Fender Telecaster presented here. This well played version of the original ‘52 Tele electric guitar, carries Reagan’s name on the verso of the body. The signature, perserved with an acrylic overlay grades a solid 9. The signature was obtained by acclaimed musician Jim Monahan, who was on hand to play at the Presidential barbecue and summer party, held at the “Western White House” in Hope Ranch, California. Included, is a stamped official White House photo of the guitar being signed, as well as numerous other photos of a cowboy-hatted Reagan signing the guitar; Nancy at his side. Also included, is a newspaper article describing the event, and a “Ranch Detail WPD” Secret Service cap. This scarce Fender is a solid-body beauty. Made of premium alderwood with a clear lacquer finish, it has a one-piece maple cap neck with a 7 1/4 inch radius, 21 frets, a string-through body American series bridge and two Joe Barden Humbucker pick-ups with a 3-way switch. The mucical oddity of the piece is that this is a left handed guitar strung right handed and aptly played by Jim upside down and backwards. Now thats an oddity!! This American beauty has signs of wear and slight discoloration in spots but is overall very fine+ condition with mellow sound. Comes with the original leather-bordered Fender case. This insrument constitutes a true collectors rarity crossing over music and politics. With the recent passing of President Reagan, it can’t be more glorious.
