Ornate 10” tall sterling silver trophy awarded in 1886 to J.H. Barnfather as the batting champion of the Manitoba Baseball League. An elegant piece with an Olympic-style wreath on the top of the bowl with a picture of a batter at home plate delicately engraved on one side. The other side is engraved with the words, “Batting Championship Won By J.H. Barnfather, Manitoba League, 1886.” The base is connected to the bowl by a stem surrounded by two crossed baseball bats. At the base the engraving reads, “Presented By D.Smith, President of the Metropolitan Baseball Club.” Well preserved early baseball award is NRMT.
