An historic game ball from the 1945 Negro League World Series, signed by the participants in that Championship Series - the Homestead Grays and the Cleveland Buckeyes. Baseball displays signatures of 16 players from the Grays and the Buckeyes including that of Sam Jethroe, who along with Jackie Robinson and Marvin Williams was given perfunctory tryouts that season by the Boston Red Sox. Also includes Quincy Trouppe (sweet spot - he added, “catcher and manager” below), Willie Grace, & more. Ball is darkened from age and stadium dirt. Signatures grade overall 7-8 out of a possible 10 and is inscribed, “Cleveland Buckeyes Baseball Club, Championship, 8/20/1945, Philly.” The Buckeyes defeated the Grays in four straight games to win the World Series.
