Stunning images bespeak the Twin Towers 9-11 Tragedy of over 50 years later. In 1945 a twin-engineer B-25 Army bomber in a fog blindly crashed into the Empire State Building igniting the building and killing 13 people and injuring 26 others. Photos are daring photojournalist Hans Knopf who was best known for his work in the magazines Life and Sports Illustrated. The lot includes: 1) 24 original negatives of the crash. Each are 2.5” and show stunning images of the devastation of the crash: a Priest giving benediction to a burnt corpse, the stunned crowds held back by police barricades, and firefighters furiously at work, and the edifice of this beautiful but now flawed art deco structure. Includes recently made contact sheets and prints. NRMT. 2) 12 vintage wire photos showing the pilot, the injured in the hospital, plane wreckage, workers making repairs, and most pf the twisted metal wreckage. Photos are 7x9” with original paper captions, they are by various wire service photographers. Overall EX-MT. The commonality of these images and negs carry a stunning similarity to the 9-11 crash that in one sense make them difficult to look at and in another impossible to not.
