Presented is the OAL (Cronin) baseball that became a treasured historic artifact as soon as Mickey Mantle made contact with it for his 521st career home run in 1968. The home run is particularly memorable in that it was the one that tied Mantle with the legendary Ted Williams on the all-time home run list. It was the third home run of his final season with the New York Yankees. The stampings are barely visible on the heavily used baseball. It is inscribed on the side panel in black ballpoint, “H.R. No. 521.” From the collection of Mickey Mantle’s sacred personal treasures (New York 2003) with the original sticker from that sale attached to the ball holder. LOA from Mickey Mantle family.
