Penned by John Lennon after listening to Yoko Ono playing Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata on the piano, these are the original handwritten song lyrics for “Because”, released on the Abbey Road album in 1969. In faded black ink, the lyrics are written on the back of the July 8, 1969 letter (copy) to The Beatles from their lawyer that effectively ended the Beatles. It reads, “Because the world is round, it turns me on. [quotes added on next line to imply repetition of the first]. Because the wind is high, it blows my mind. Love is old love is new, Love is all, love is you. Because the sky is blue it makes us [crossed out] me [added in black pen] cry."
