One of the most notable and most expensive of the T206 variations, Magee’s last name was erroneously misspelled as Magie. The card was available in two different poses, one batting and one portrait. The portrait card was originally printed with Magee’s last name misspelled as Magie, but the error was noticed quickly and correct. However, a very small amount of the errors were printed before the correction was made. The error (or variation as it is known) is only available on the Piedmont, Series 150 Factory 25 ad back. Ironically, other spelling errors exist in the set, but were never corrected. It has been professionally graded and authenticated by SGC as a VG-EX example and features a clear image with resounding registration, very consistent centering, a clean and stain-free back. Only even corner wear and a small spot of paper loss (less than the size of a small pinhead over Magee’s left shoulder) keeps this card from grading higher. A high-end mid grade example for the serious T206 connoisseur.
