Displayed is a great opportunity for any vintage baseball fan: The chance to possess a truly novel item - a Brooklyn Dodgers "Dem Bums" bar stool collection (3), with the last name and uniform number of 12 Brooklyn Dodgers of the 1950s, including five Hall of Famers, displayed.  These last names and numbers are in large, etched, painted letters and numerals, one player at a time, on each of the total of 12 legs on the three stools. Hall of Famers include Jackie Robinson, Duke Snider, Roy Campanella, Pee Wee Reese, and Gil Hodges. Most of the dozen players whose name and number appear on these stools were on both the 1952-53 Boys of Summer depicted in Roger Kahn's book of the same name and on the sole Brooklyn Dodgers World Champions, the beloved 1955 team.

The three four-legged, wooden stools are painted in blue. On the top of the seat of each stool is "Dodgers" in white script and "BROOKLYN" and "DEM BUMS," both in red letters. A wonderful feature is that on each leg of each stool is painted the last name of a Brooklyn Dodger, in white, and that player's uniform number, in red, just like the red numbers on the front of the Dodgers uniforms. Each stool is approx. 30" high, and the circular seat on each stool is approx. 14" in diameter. 1) This stool has the following last names and uniform numbers, one of each name & number painted on each of the four legs (all Hall of Famers): Robinson 42/Snider 4/Reese 1/Hodges 14. 2) This stool has the following last names and uniform numbers, one combination of each painted on each leg (includes Hall of Famer Campanella): Erskine 17/Campanella 39/Roe 28/Furillo 9. 3) This stool has the following last names and uniform numbers, one of each painted on each leg: Abrams 32/Labine 41/Podres 45/Shuba 8.

As a collection, the three chairs have great eye appeal. The blue, white, and red colors are well matched to each other, and the bar stools have a dignified and impressive look. The stools are in very good condition. The stools exhibit some use: a few small scratches, mostly on one or another of the legs; some very small areas, usually under a half inch, of paint loss, one on a seat top; a few minor abrasions. Despite these minor imperfections, the overall look of the collection is eye-catching, it is sure to intrigue any vintage baseball aficionado.
