Presented is a Michigan vs. Ohio State, October 22, 1927, ticket stub, from the Dedication Game at Michigan's Big House, as Michigan defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes by 21-0. An earlier game, Oct. 1, 1927, was played at the Big House, but before the stadium's dedication. Known officially as Michigan Stadium, the venue replaced Ferry Field, which seated 40,000 as Michigan's home stadium. Fielding Yost, Michigan's legendary football coach, had lobbied the school for a 140,000-seat stadium, and he was granted permission in 1926 for a 72,000-seat edifice, but with footings designed to permit great expansion. The Big House has expanded over the years, and it currently has a listed capacity of 107,601 - the largest in the Western Hemisphere. The largest football crowd at The Big House is 115,101, on Sept. 7, 2013, a 41-30 win over Notre Dame.

In the Big House, most of the seats are below ground level, so the size of the stadium, when seen from outside, is deceptive. Originally, the seats in The Big House were wooden bleachers, but the seats are now metal, and the original grass surface is gone, replaced with artificial turf. The Big House also hosts other events, mostly sports. In 2014, a regular season NHL hockey game between the Detroit Red Wings and the Toronto Maple Leafs drew 105,491, a record for a hockey game. Also in 2014, a Champions Cup soccer game between Real Madrid and Manchester United drew 109,318, a U.S. record for a soccer match.

The ticket stub measures 2x4.25". It reads, in part, "OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY versus UNIVERSITY of MICHIGAN/AT ANN ARBOR, MICH. $3.00 tax free/HOLD YOUR OWN TICKET/2 P.M. October 22, 1927./Sec. 14/Row 41/Seat 11." The ticket front has four small areas of paper loss, which partially affects the team names and the ticket price. There also appears to be some minute, indistinct writing in the top margin, by an unknown hand. The stub also has some fading of color. The 2026 season will mark Michigan's 100th season playing in the Big House, and the stadium's 100th Anniversary occurs in 2027, so the offered ticket stub makes an especially appropriate and timely remembrance.
