Near-complete set of 1882 Cosack & Co. trade cards, each featuring a Peck & Snyder overprint on the front and additional Peck & Snyder advertising on the reverse. Eight of the nine cards from the set are featured here. Missing only the "Left Fielder" for completion. Each of these colorful trade cards (3.5x5.5") features an illustrated baseball scene on the front that focuses on a specific positional player, which is listed in print. The eight positions represented here are Pitcher, Catcher, 1st Baseman, 2nd Baseman, Short Stop, 3rd Baseman, Centre Fielder, and Batsman (there was no "Right Fielder" in the set). These cards were once matted and framed together by a former owner. During the framing process, all the cards were first adhered to a slightly larger cardboard backing and then matted within the display. During the removal process, only one (Centre Fielder) was removed from its cardboard backing and as a result, it displays small areas of both paper loss and tape residue on the reverse. The other seven cards remain adhered to their cardboard backings. The "Third Baseman" card displays a slight tear in the upper right corner and the "Catcher" card displays remnants of the reverse Peck & Snyder advertising text on the front; otherwise, aside from their having been adhered to a mount, all are Excellent in their overall appearance.
