A pair of Everlast boxing trunks worn by Muhammad Ali while training in the 1970s. The satin trunks are black and white, though the black portion has heavily faded. The shorts are in a size XL and the Everlast tag on the front center reads, "Made Expressly For Muhammad Ali." This tag is especially sought after by serious Ali collectors. In 1972, Ali became the second boxer, after Joe Louis, to have his own product line within Everlast. These shorts were used in Ali's Pennsylvania training sessions prior to many of his most famed fights. The lot includes a letter of provenance from the consignor who states that the boxer had donated the items to his Sands Hall of Fame Museum in Las Vegas, Nevada and a picture of the boxer and the consignor with the trunks. The lot also includes a Letter of Authentication from MEARS, which has graded the pair of trunks as authentic. Ali had an iconic career in the sport of boxing and is considered to be among the greatest athletes ever. He compiled a career record of 61-5 and held every major belt. Ali passed away in 2016 at the age of 74, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.
