Substantial boxing belt presented to Larry Holmes in 2013 to commemorate Holmes' becoming the first International Boxing Federation (IBF) Heavyweight Champion in 1984. This commemorative belt originates from Larry Holmes' wife, Diane, who has provided a one-page typed-signed letter of provenance which accompanies the piece. In her letter, she attests that this belt was presented to Holmes by IBF president Daryl Peoples and IBF ratings chairman Lindsey Tucker in 2013, and was later displayed for many years at Champs Corner Restaurant. Lelands located an image of Holmes holding this exact belt in his restaurant, which acts as a photo-match. The ornate design features a gilt-colored centerpiece, featuring colored stones, at the top of which sits an eagle and at the base, a pair of boxing gloves. The enameled center is lettered "International Boxing Federation" and "World Champion," respectively, around the circular perimeter of earth's two hemispheres. The gold-colored circular plaque on the left is engraved "Larry Holmes," while the one on the right is engraved "First IBF Heavyweight Champion 11/9/84." This date is the same as his first defense of the IBF title versus "Bonecrusher" Smith. The gold-colored plate on the back of the waist strap features an enameled design identical to that on the front, which is situated between two generic boxing figures. The heavy leather belt displays only light wear and remains in much the same condition as when it was first presented to Holmes in 2013. Comes with Davious Photo-Matched LOA.
