Pittsburgh Pirates road jersey worn by first baseman Doe Boyland during the 1978 season. The black nylon jersey is lettered "Pirates" across the front and features the number "15" on the left breast and reverse. All letters and numerals are applied in gold tackle twill. Located on the left front tail is a "Descente" label and adjacent wash tag. Below the label is a black strip tag bearing the uniform number, size, and year ("15 42 78") embroidered in gold. Although Pirates jerseys did not display player names in 1978, number "15" was worn only by Doe Boyland in 1978. The jersey is original as issued and displays light wear, which is not surprising given that Boyland appeared in just six games with the Pirates in 1978.
