Interesting New York Yankees home jersey worn by several players during the 1960s. The white pinstripe jersey features the club's "NY" logo on the left breast and the number "17" on the reverse. Both the logo and number are applied in navy felt. The name "Bright" is chain-stitched in navy upon a white strip tag in the collar. Located on the left front tail are both a "Spalding" label and "44" size tag, as well as the set number and year ("Set 1 64"), which are each chain-stitched in navy. A Major League Baseball "100th Anniversary" patch appears on the left sleeve (this patch was worn by all Major League teams in 1969). The number "17" on the reverse represents a team-issued number change, because Bright wore number "14" in 1964. As noted by both the name tag in the collar, and year stitched in the tail, this jersey was originally issued to infielder Harry Bright in 1964. However, the presence of the 1969 MLB Anniversary patch on the left sleeve indicates that it saw use during that season as well.

Bright appeared in only four games with the Yankees in 1964 (Pedro Ramos also wore number "14" that year), so this jersey was likely recycled in future seasons, as indicated by the number change. Given that number change, it is possible that it was worn by Bobby Murcer in 1965 and 1966. However, we know that it was worn by Gene Michael in 1969, as he was the only player to wear number "17" with the Yankees in 1968 and 1969. Aside from the number change, the jersey is original as issued and displays heavy wear, including a few small tears on the front and light staining on the reverse.
