Displayed is a 1982 Paul "Bear" Bryant signed and inscribed photo from his final season as a college coach. Bryant was born in Arkansas in 1913, and he earned his famous "Bear" nickname by wresting a captive carnival bear when Bryant was 13 years old. Bryant was a star two-way end at Alabama and helped the Crimson Tide to the 1934 National Championship. He is most famous for being the head coach of Alabama from 1958-82. His Crimson Tide teams won six National Championships. Bear had also been the head coach at the University of Maryland, the University of Kentucky, and Texas A&M University before his tenure at Alabama. Bryant retired after the 1982 season with 323 wins as a college coach at that time. He is an inductee to the College Football Hall of Fame.
