Presented is a 1953 Larry Lajoie signed index card, one also inscribed by the Hall of Fame second baseman. Lajoie was legally named Napoleon Lajoie, and he was nicknamed both "Nap" and "Larry," the later by a teammate who couldn't pronounce "Lajoie." Lajoie played in the Major Leagues for the Philadelphia Phillies (1896-1900), Philadelphia Athletics (1901-02 & 1915-16), and the Cleveland Bronchos/Naps (1902-14). He managed the Cleveland Naps, named for him, from 1905-1909. Lajoie won five batting titles and had a .339 career batting average. He had 3,252 hits and 82 home runs, in the Dead Ball Era. When Lajoie jumped across town in Philadelphia to switch from the Philadelphia Phillies to the Philadelphia Athletics in 1901, he promptly won that season's AL Triple Crown.

Lajoie used a blue ballpoint to sign the lined side of a 3x5" index card. Lajoie scripted a big and bold signature and neatly inscribed "9-21-53." The index card exhibits some darkening because of the passage of time. The offering has been encapsulated and PSA CERTIFIED "AUTHENTIC AUTO" (85470635).
