Offered is an index card signed by New York Yankee star catcher Thurman Munson. Munson played all 11 seasons of the MLB career, 1969-79, with the Yankees. He was the 1970 AL Rookie of the Year, a 7-time All-Star, a career .292 hitter, a 3-time Gold Glove recipient, and the 1976 AL MVP, in the same season he was the first N.Y. On August 2, 1979, Munson, who lived nearby, was a piloting practicing take-offs and landings at Canton-Akron Airport, and pilot error caused his Cesna plane to hit a tree and then a tree stump. The plane burst into flames. While Munson's two passengers escaped, he had suffered a paralyzing injury and passed away. The Yankees retired his number 15, and also placed a Thurman Munson monument in Monument Park, in back of center field at Yankee Stadium.
The offered unlined index card measures 3x5". Munson neatly signed the index card, writing in blue ballpoint ink. The card has been encapsulated and shows a PSA Certified (85470719) Auto Grade "GEM MT 10."
