New York State motor vehicle registration card issued to Hall of Fame pitcher Christy Mathewson in 1916. The card bears Mathewson's typewritten name and address ("Christopher Mathewson - 87 St. Nicholas Place - NY City") on the front, and is date stamped "April 7 1916." In addition to his name, the card also includes the make (Paige Detroit) and type ("tour") of Mathewson's car. The card (3.5x2.5") has been trimmed along all four borders (most likely so it could fit in Mathewson's wallet) and displays light creasing and a small edge tear along the top border. This piece originally resided in the "Christy Mathewson Collection" at Keystone College but was later de-accessioned by the school. Accompanied by a letter of provenance signed by John F. Pullo Sr, President of Keystone College.
