Pittsburgh Pirates road jersey worn by catcher Smokey Burgess in 1964, which was his final season with club. The vest-style gray flannel jersey is lettered "Pirates" across the front and features the number "6" on the left breast and reverse. All letters and numerals are applied in black on gold felt. A "MacGregor 46" label appears in the collar. Located on the interior left front tail is a second "MacGregor" label that reads "Set 2 1964." The jersey is original as issued and displays moderate wear, including a small tear along the back arm hole and loosening to the stitches along the piping and numerals.

Burgess, who was a key member of the Pirates' 1960 World Championship club, appeared in sixty-eight games with the Pirates in 1964 before being acquired off waivers by the Chicago White Sox on September 12th. While with the Pirates that season, he batted .246 with 3 home runs and 18 RBI, while also making the final All-Star Game appearance of his career. One of the game's greatest pinch hitters, Burgess retired in 1967 with 126 home runs, 673 RBI, and a .295 lifetime average.
