Cal Ripken Jr. is the Major League record holder for consecutive games played - 2,632. But long before that, on August 10, 1981, he made his Major League debut when he scored the eventual winning run in a 3-2 Baltimore Orioles win against the Royals in Kansas City. Presented is an 8/10/81 ticket stub from Ripken's MLB debut. Ripken would go on to the Hall of Fame, batting .276 with 3,184 hits and 431 home runs, all while playing for the Baltimore Orioles from 1981-2001. The 19-time All-Star was the '82 AL Rookie of the Year and he was a 2-time AL MVP, and a World Champion in 1983. In his MLB debut, Ripken went into a game that was 2-2 in the top of the 12th inning, pinch running for Ken Singleton, who was on second base. Ripken later scored on a John Lowenstein single to give the Orioles a one-run lead that held up in the bottom of the 12th to give Baltimore the win.
