Each ball originates directly from Lee Smith and is accompanied by an individual LOA signed by Smith attesting to its provenance. Each ball is an official National League (White) ball and has been notated in an identical manner in blue ink. On the top panel, the date of the game and the save number is recorded. The line score for the game is recorded across the sweet spot (extending into both adjacent side panels). Lastly, Smith has signed each ball on the panel directly below (signatures grade 9/10). Smith's 362nd save took place on April 25, 1993, in a game in which the Cardinals defeated the Braves 7-3. Smith's 363rd save took place on April 26, 1993, in a game in which the Cardinals defeated the Astros 3-2. Smith retired in 1997 with 478 career saves, which ranks third on the all-time list. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2019.
