Pittsburgh Pirates road jersey worn by third baseman Richie Hebner during the 1975 season. The gray knit road jersey is lettered "Pirates" across the front and features the number "3" on both the left breast and reverse. All letters and numerals are applied in black on gold tackle twill. The jersey number, size, and year ("3 42 75") are chain-stitched in black upon a gray strip tag located on the left front tail. A "Wilson 42" label appears directly below the strip tag. Pirates jerseys in 1975 did not include a name tag, but Hebner was the only player to wear number "3" with the club that season. Although the jersey is tagged for 1975, it was obviously used the following season as well (possibly during spring training, as was the custom for most clubs) because a 1976 "National League Centennial" patch adorns the right sleeve (this patch was worn by all National League teams in 1976). The jersey is original as issued and displays extensive wear, indicative of multi-season wear, including probable minor league use. The letters and numerals are heavily faded and display loose and frayed stitching. The jersey also displays light foxing throughout, which might be more related to its method of storage than game use. Hebner batted .246 with 15 home runs and 57 RBI in 1975. He finished his career in 1985 with 203 home runs, 890 RBI, and a .276 lifetime average.
