Pittsburgh Pirates road jersey worn by Vern Law during his first season as a coach with the club in 1968. The gray flannel vest-style jersey is lettered "Pirates" across the front and features the number "32" on the left breast and reverse. All letters and numerals are applied in black on gold felt. Located on the left front tail are the following: 1) a "Spalding" label; 2) an adjacent "44" size tag; 3) the name "Law" chain-stitched in black; 4) a laundry tag; and 5) a flag tag reading "Set 1 1968." The jersey is original as issued and displays light wear, including a small tear to the piping along the base of the left arm hole. Law enjoyed a successful sixteen-year pitching career with the Pirates (1950-67, minus two seasons lost to military service) and was a key member of the club's 1960 World Championship season (he led the club with 20 wins and won 2 games in the World Series). 1968 marked his first season as the club's pitching coach, a position he held for two seasons before becoming the head baseball coach for Brigham Young University.
