Johnny Mize, known as "the Big Cat," was a Hall of Fame first baseman who hit 359 career home runs. Presented is a 1936 Johnny Mize St. Louis Cardinals Type I Charles Conlon rookie photo. Mize played 15 Major League seasons, missing three seasons because of military service during World War II. The Big Cat played for three Major League teams: St. Louis Cardinals (1936-41), New York Giants (1942 & 1946-49), New York Yankees (1949-53). He batted a lifetime .312 with 2,011 hits, and he was a 4-time NL home run champion, and the NL 1939 batting champion. He was a 5-time World Champion, from 1949-53, with the Yankees. Late in his career, the 10-time All-Star became a part-time player and a great pinch hitter.

The offered original photo measures 6.5x8.4", and it shows Mize, in a Cardinal uniform, demonstrating his left-handed swing. Written on back, in pencil, by an unknown hand, is "Johnny Mize/Cards." The photo has been encapsulated and PSA Certified as TYPE I. The photo is in EXCELLENT condition.
