Collection of three nineteenth-century baseball tintypes, all taken in a formal studio setting. Tintypes were one of the earliest forms of photography and those featuring baseball images have always been highly desired by collectors. As is the case for nearly all baseball tintypes, the subjects and their respective team affiliations remain unidentified, but each offers a rare glimpse back in time to the earliest days of our national pastime. Two of the tintypes feature a single player (one holding a ball and the other a bat), while the third pictures three teammates posing together. Each tintype (approximately 2.25x3.5") displays flaws common to most other examples, including clipped corners, creasing, scratches, and oxidation to the border areas. Good condition overall.
