Presented is a Rickey Henderson signed ball that was used in the game at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego on April 25, 2001, when the San Diego Padres' Rickey Henderson broke Babe Ruth's all-time MLB record for walks when Henderson walked for the 2,062nd time. The offering comes with a Rickey Henderson signed ticket stub from that game. Henderson played Major League baseball from 1979-2003, for nine teams. The Hall of Fame outfielder holds the Major League records for runs (2,295), stolen bases (1,406), and bases on balls (2,190). Henderson is generally considered to be the best leadoff hitter in baseball history. In addition to garnering the most walks ever, Henderson could really hit. He batted .279 lifetime, with 3,055 hits and 297 home runs.

The offered ball is an Official Major League Baseball (Selig). It shows game use as well as darkening. Rickey Henderson signed on a side panel in a bold, neat signature with blue ballpoint ink. One of the game umpires, Al Clark, signed the ball in blue ballpoint ink on the sweet spot. The ball was obtained by fan at the game and it comes with his ticket, without the stub. The ticket, which measures approx. 2.3x4.3", has been encapsulated in clear plastic, which measures approx. 3.5x5.7" and is an inch thick. Henderson signed the ticket in bold, black marker and inscribed "2,062" (the number of walks that broke Ruth's record). The ticket reads, in part, "San Diego Padres vs. Philadelphia Phillies/Wed Apr 25, 2001[,] 7:05 PM/$165/DUGD." One can see from "DUGD" that the fan sat near the dugout.
