Offered is the historical baseball that Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn hit for his 100th RBI of the 1997 season, on August 20th, the only season in his MLB career in which Gwynn reached the century mark for RBIs. A right-fielder and a left-handed batter, Gwynn won eight NL batting crowns, tied for the most ever. Gwynn played his entire career for the San Diego Padres and batted over .300 for an amazing 19 straight seasons, with six of his batting crown averages over .350. Tony hit .338 lifetime. Known as "Mr. Padre," Gwynn knocked in his 100th RBI for the '77 season when he doubled to right field against Jason Schmidt in a game at Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh against the Pirates. That season, Gwynn batted .372, once again winning a National League batting crown. He went on to collect 3,141 lifetime hits.
