1891 John H Ryder Photography Jack Virtue Cabinet card. The card has been graded and encapsulated by PSA PR 1. Virtue was a first baseman for the Cleveland Spiders from 1890-94. A stroke suffered in spring training of 1895 forced him to retire but he lived until 1943. The card itself has a clear image of a stoic-looking Virtue wearing his Cleveland sweater with John H Ryder Cleveland, Ohio beneath the image. It is missing the top left corner of the card with the remaining corners displaying moderate wear. The edges have light wear more apparent on the reverse. Centering is excellent. There are minor creases/bends near each corner. A small blemish/stain exists beneath the Virtue image affecting the last "r" in Ryder. The reverse has a center stamp for Ryder Portraits. There is a pencil notation in the top left corner reading "J K Virtue?" A large stain/blemish is present beneath the Ryder Portraits advertisement with toning and wear throughout. There are only 5 PSA graded examples of any player according to the population report.
