Carl Yastrzemski, known simply as "Yaz," was an iconic Boston Red Sox left fielder who carried the mantle of the Red Sox' big gun after the retirement of Hall of Famer - also a left fielder - Ted Williams. Offered is a circa 1984, gorgeous amber pool table lamp given to Yastrzemski by the Red Sox. Yaz played his entire Major League career, 1961-83, with Boston. He batted a lifetime .285 with 452 home runs and 3,419 hits. His best season was in 1967, one of two times his Red Sox teams won the AL Pennant, when he won the Triple Crown, batting .326, with 44 homers and 121 RBIs. A superb fielder who became a master at playing balls off the left field Green Monster at Fenway Park, Yaz won seven Gold Gloves. Later in his career, he became a first baseman and designated hitter. Keeping the Yaz name in the news is Carl's grandson, Mike Yastrzemski, at this writing an outfielder on the San Francisco Giants.

The hard plastic pool table light is designed to hang over the middle of a pool table, providing overhead lighting as well as being an impressive, decorative element. The light has an approx. diameter of 23", and a height of approx. 14". It weighs 15 lbs. A 5" diameter "cover plate" allows the metal chain and the electrical cord to connect with the ceiling. The 1984 season was the first year of Yastrzemski's retirement as a player. Just so there was no mistaking whose light this was, in impressive lettering over 3" tall, the name of "Yaz" is displayed six times on the ring of the light, in red letters with a blue trim. From the top of the light, a metal, link chain, along with concurrent electrical wiring, runs 5.5", so that the light can be hung from a ceiling. There is no bulb in the light socket of the light. It is not known if the pool table light can still be used. The light shows some wear, with some paint transfers, scratches, paint loss, and a few places in which it appears that the light could have been repaired. Despite the aforementioned minor imperfections, the pool table light has great eye appeal, and it makes a unique Yaz remembrance. Purchased directly a from family member.
