Pair of original folding seats originating from Briggs Stadium in Detroit. One seat is all metal construction, with metal slats for the seat and back rest. The other features metal framework and wood slats for the seat, but includes padding on both the seat and back rest. Both of these chairs were used for auxiliary seating and could have been used inside the stadium for players in the clubhouse or in team offices. Each seat is painted green, with the padding on the one seat also green. Navin Field opened on April 20, 1912 and remained home to the Tigers through July 24, 2001. Navin Field was later known as Briggs Stadium in the 1930s and Tiger Stadium in the early 1960s, but by any name, it was always considered one of baseball's most venerable old ballparks. There are a few small tears to both the seat and back rest padding on the one chair. Otherwise, each chair displays wear commensurate with its age and former use and remains fully functional. All metal chair dimensions (open): 16x16x33". Chair with padding dimensions (open): 16x17x36".
