Presented is a 1998 Joe Torre New York Yankees game worn cap from the that season's All-Star game at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado. Hall of Famer Torre was a Major League player for 17 seasons, with the Milwaukee/Atlanta Braves, the St. Louis Cardinals, and the New York Mets. The versatile Torre was a catcher, first baseman, and third baseman who batted a career .297 with 252 home runs. As a manager, he was a 4-time World Series Champion with the New York Yankees. For the '98 All-Star Game, Torre served as an American League coach under manager Mike Hargrove of the Cleveland Indians. The American League won the game 13-8, with the Cleveland Indians' Bartolo Colon getting the win over the National League's Ugueth Urbina of the Montreal Expos. Hall of Famer Roberto Alomar, the Baltimore Orioles' second baseman in '98, hit a home run and had three hits as the All-Star Game MVP. The offered cap is navy-blue, with a white interlocking "NY" on the front. On the left side of the cap is a sewn-on patch reading, "1998 6 [Torre's number] ALL*STAR" with an embroidered "Joe Torre" in white thread. On the back of the cap is the MLB logo. On the back, inner hatband are three tags: MLB AUTHENTIC DIAMOND COLLECTION; NEW ERA /Since 1920"; and "THE '59/50' IS THE ONLY CAP WORN ON THE FIELD OF PLAY BY EVERY MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL PLAYER/[size] 7 &1/2 and 100% WOOL." After the '98 All-Star Game ended, this cap was gifted by Torre to the consignor, who worked in MLB at the time. The cap exhibits light use, and it is in EXCELLENT condition.
