Displayed is a 1932 World Champion New York Yankees signed baseball, with signatures of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. The '32 Yankees had a 107-47-2 season record and swept the Chicago Cubs in the World Series. Game 3 of the '32 Series featured Babe Ruth's famous "Called Shot" at Wrigley Field off Cubs starter Charlie Root. Ruth, still going strong at age 37 in '32, hit for a .341 batting average with 41 homers and 137 RBIs, and an AL-leading .489 OBP. Gehrig hit .349, with 34 home runs and 151 RBIs. Lefty Gomez was the club's ace, going 24-7. Hall of Famers who signed the Official American League Ball (Harridge): Babe Ruth (on sweet spot), Lou Gehrig, Tony Lazzeri, Red Ruffing, Joe Sewell, and Bill Dickey. Also signing, Walter "Jumbo" Brown, Arndt Jorgens, Ed Wells, Jimmy Burke (coach), Art Fletcher (coach), plus more. The ball comes with a PSA/DNA LOA for the signatures, and of the twenty (20) autographs on the ball, PSA/DNA deems the autograph of Hall of Fame manager Joe McCarthy to be a "clubhouse" (not valid) signature. The autographs are signed in black or blue fountain ink, lightly faded from the passage of over nine decades. The signatures generally are 7 or 8/10. The baseball exhibits a slight darkening and is in very good condition.
