Edgar Cayce, known as "The Sleeping Prophet," was a famous American clairvoyant. Offered is an Edgar Cayce cut signature as part of a framed display. Cayce was born in Christian County, Kentucky in 1877. He would appear to be in a trance, and then, after being supplied with a person's address, offer remote advice on healing, nutrition, the afterlife, reincarnation, etc. In 1931, he founded the Association for Research and Enlightenment, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, an organization still extant toady as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, still located in Virginia Beach. In his lifetime, he gave over 20,000 readings. A controversial figure, he has devoted followers even now, 80 years after his death. He also is regarded by many as a charlatan. Cayce passed away in 1945. The offered cut signature appears to have been written in blue or black fountain ink, now somewhat faded in color but clearly visible. The signature is on card stock or paper measuring approx. 1.5x4.5", in an irregular cut. The Cayce cut signature is displayed on a 7.3x17.25" frame that has three display areas, each measuring 4.5x4.5". The middle display area is backed in red, the left display area has a black & white photo of Cayce, and the right display area has a simulated book cover reading, "EDGAR CAYCE/THE SLEEPING PROPHET." This simulated book cover has a fold and rough edges. The back of the display has an 11" display stand. The Cayce cut signature comes with a PSA LOA for the signature.
