Harlem Globetrotters jersey worn by J. C. Gipson during the late 1950s. The blue dureen jersey is lettered "Original Harlem Globetrotters" on the front and features the number "41" on the reverse. Both "Harlem" and the number "41" are applied in red on white tackle twill, while all remaining letters are applied in gold tackle twill. Located on the left front tail are a "Wilson" label and adjacent "44" size tag. The player's name and the jersey size, "J. C. Gipson - 44 R," are chain-stitched in white upon a blue strip tag applied next to the manufacturer's tag. The jersey is original as issued and displays heavy wear, including two vertical tears on the front. Gipson joined the Harlem Globetrotters right out of high school in 1952 and enjoyed a long twenty-year career with the club, during which time he was one of the team's most popular players.
