Presented is the opportunity to possess a signed Charles Albert "Chief" Bender index card that is PSA/DNA Certified as GEM MINT 10. Bender, a Native American, was a Major League pitcher from 1903-17 & '25: Philadelphia Athletics (1903-12), Baltimore Terrapins [Federal League] (1915), Philadelphia Phillies (1916-17), and Chicago White Sox (1925 - in a special one-game appearance when he was a White Sox coach). Bender had a 212-127 lifetime mark, with a career 2.46 ERA. He was a favorite of long-time Philadelphia Athletics Hall of Fame manager Connie Mack, who once said, "If I had to win one game above all others...Albert [what Mack called Bender] would be my man." Bender was a 3-time World Champion with Mack's Athletics. After his playing career, he was a minor league coach and manager, a Major League coach, a scout, and an executive. As a pitching coach for the Athletics, he is credited with developing pitcher Bobby Shantz into the 1952 AL MVP, when Shantz led the AL with 24 wins. The offered index card measures 3x5". Bender used blue fountain ink to craft a superb signature, beautifully scripted, big and bold autograph, signing as "Chief" Bender. The signed index card has been encapsulated and PSA/DNA Certified as "GEM MT 10."
