Cy Young, with 511 victories, has the most wins in the history of baseball. Presented is a 1937 Cy Young cut autograph display, one that not only contains the Hall of Fame right-hander's signature, but also includes a group photograph of the players, including Young, who attended Old Timers Day at Braves Field in Boston on Sept. 8, 1937. Young's MLB career lasted from 1890-1911: Cleveland Spiders (1890-98), St. Louis Perfectos/Cardinals (1899-1900), Boston Americans/Red Sox (1901-1908), Cleveland Naps (1909-1911), Boston Rustlers (1911). His lifetime record was 511-315, with a 2.63 ERA. He was a 5-time league wins leader, a 2-time ERA leader, and a 2-time strikeout champion. He pitched three no-hitters, including a perfect game on May 5, 1904. Young was part of the 1904 Boston Americans' World Championship. Young's signature is in black ink from a steel-tip fountain pen and written on a 2.25x5.4" piece of paper or card stock. Above his big and bold signature, Young, also in black fountain fink, inscribed "Peoli 7/10/1937" (Peoli, Ohio is where he lived). Above Young's cut signature is a 4.1x12.4" panorama photo of the former Major Leaguers who attended the Sept.18, 1937 Old Timers game in Boston. In the included photo are more than fifty Old Timers, from both leagues. Young is pictured 9th from the left in the second row. Some of the Hall of Famers in the photo: Ty Cobb, Eddie Collins, Johnnie Evers, Ed Walsh, Roger Bresnahan, Tris Speaker, and Harry Hooper. Also, esteemed pitcher and outfielder Smokey Joe Wood, 7th from the right in the second row, is wearing the uniform of Yale University, where he became the head baseball coach after his playing career. The Young cut signature and the Old Timers photo are matted and framed to 13.5x16.25". The offering comes with a JSA LOA for the Young signature. (Cert. #BB74410). The cut signature paper or card stock exhibits some minor darkening. The included panorama photo has two noticeable seams or lines. The seam or line on the right was most likely caused when two original negatives used to make the panorama were joined. The line on the left could also be a seam from joined negatives or a crease. Other than the aforementioned imperfections, the cut signature display is in nice condition.
