Roger Clemens, with a lifetime record of 354-184, a 3.12 ERA and an amazing 4,672 strikeouts, is by far the best (at least five years retired) baseball pitcher who is not in the Hall of Fame. Presented is the opportunity to own a full game ticket to each of Clemens' 20-strikeout games, the only Major League pitcher in history to pitch two 20-strikeout games and tied with four other hurlers as the only hurlers to pitch a 20-strikeout game while throwing no more than nine innings. Steroids allegations against Clemens have so far kept his Hall of Fame voting totals too low for admission to the baseball shrine. Clemens pitched for 24 Major League seasons, with the Boston Red Sox from 1984-96, plus seasons with the New York Yankees, Houston Astros, and Toronto Blue Jays. The hard-throwing right-hander was an 11-time All Star, and he won an incredible seven (7) Cy Young Awards. Clemens had his first 20-strikeout game on Tuesday night, April 29, 1986, in a Red Sox home game at Boston's Fenway Park against the Seattle Mariners. Before a crowd of 13,414, Clemens defeated the Mariners' Mike Moore 3-1. Clemens struck out every one of the Mariners' starting position players at least once, with Phil Bradley striking out in each of his four at bats. The only run for Seattle was on a bases empty homer by Gorman Thomas in the 7th inning. Dwight Evans hit a three-run Red Sox home run in the home 7th for all of the Boston runs. Clemens went the distance, and his final, and 20th, strikeout came against his chief victim of the night, Phil Bradley, with two outs in the ninth inning. The full ticket reads, in part, "TUES APR 29 MARINERS 1986/RESERVED $8.00/FENWAY PARK - BOSTON." The ticket measures 1.7x4.8", and it is in EXCELLENT condition. The second Clemens 20-strikeout game was on Wednesday night, September 18, 1996, at Detroit's Tiger Stadium. Once again, as in his first 20-strikeout game, Clemens went the distance, and he allowed only five hits and no runs in a 4-0 victory before 8,779 at Detroit's Tiger Stadium. Catcher Bill Hasselman was the key Red Sox hitter, going 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs. As in his initial 20-strikeout game, Clemens struck out every starting Tiger position player at least once. Clemens notched his 20th strikeout by fanning Tiger shortstop Travis Fryman to end the game, Fryman's fourth strikeout of the game. The full ticket reads, in part, "DETROIT TIGERS vs. BOSTON RED SOX/TIGER STADIUM/WED SEPT 18, 1996/[$]2.50 Bleacher." The full ticket measures 2x5.6", and the ducat is in EXCELLENT condition. Since Roger Clemens is the only hurler to have two 20-strikeout games, full tickets to both games make a tremendous collectible.
