One-page typed letter, dated April 25, 1918, signed by Franklin D. Roosevelt, 32nd President of the United States. PSA has encapsulated the letter and certified the signature as "Authentic." In his letter, on official "Navy Department" letterhead, Roosevelt writes to an American citizen who donated a pair of binoculars to the war effort. Unfortunately, as Roosevelt explains, the binoculars were not usable and are being returned to the gentleman. Signed "F. D. Roosevelt" in black fountain (grading 9/10) in his capacity as "Assistant Secretary of the Navy." The letter (8x10.25") displays two horizontal mailing folds, uneven toning from having once been matted and framed, light creasing, and several light stains.
