Ted Williams said that his life's ambition was to someday walk down a street and have passersby say, "There goes the greatest hitter who ever lived." There are baseball experts who think that Williams achieved his ambition. Displayed is a pair of Ted Williams autographed baseballs. "Teddy Ball Game" played 19 Major League seasons, all with the Boston Red Sox (1939-42 & 1946-60). He missed three seasons as a Marine combat pilot in World War II, and almost the equivalent of two full seasons during the Korean Conflict, again as a combat pilot. His 528 lifetime home run total most likely would have been close to 700 if not for his service years. Williams batted an amazing .344 lifetime, was a 6-time AL batting crown recipient, 2-time AL MVP, a 2-time winner of the Triple Crown, and was the last player to hit .400, as he batted .406 in 1941. He holds the all-time MLB record for OBP at .482. The offered signed baseballs: 1) A Rawlings Official American League Ball (Brown). Williams signed a big and bold signature on the sweet spot, using a ballpoint, in gold ink. The ball has a few very light stains or spots, but none impinge on the signature. 2) A Rawlings Official American League Ball (Brown). "The Splendid Splinter" scripted his usual big and bold signature on the sweet spot, signing in gold ink from a ballpoint pen. The ball has a few very light stains, but the autograph is unaffected. Both signed baseballs come with a PSA LOA (Cert. Numbers AO07767 and AO07770).
