Displayed is a 1950s original 8.1x10" photograph of Hall of Famer Raymond Berry, a Baltimore Colts wide receiver. Berry, a 6'2" receiver, then termed an end, was drafted by the Baltimore Colts with a 20th Round pick, the 232nd player taken in the 1954 NFL Draft. Berry was skinny, weighing only slightly over 180 lbs., and not fast, as he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.8 seconds. Throughout his time as a player, he made up for his receiving deficiencies by extra practice, often after the team practice, with Unitas. Starting in 1955, he teamed up with the new Colts' quarterback, Hall of Famer Johnny Unitas, to create one of the NFL's best-ever passing duos. Berry practiced 88 different moves to get open, and he and the unit used to work on their own after Colts practices. Berry played with the Colts for his entire career, and he teamed up with Unitas for the rest of his NFL tenure. Berry played in 154 games, never missing a game until his eighth season. He had a lifetime 631 catches for 9,275 yards, a 14.7 average. He scored 68 touchdowns on passes. Berry was a 2-time NFL leader in receiving touchdowns, and a 3-time League leader in receptions and receiving yardage. The original photograph was used to make the action half of Berry's 1957 Topps Rookie Card, even though Berry was in his third NFL season in '57. The other half of the card has a Berry headshot. The card back has Berry's statistics, a short bio, a small cartoon, and Berry's curricular vitae. He was a key part of two NFL Championship teams. The original photograph has been encapsulated and PSA Certified as TYPE I AUTHENTIC. The photo is in EXCELLENT condition.
