Displayed is a 1947 Tip Top Bread Connie Ryan Boston Braves short print collection with nine (9) black & white cards of the second baseman. Ryan played 12 Major League seasons: New York Giants (1942), Boston Braves (1943-44 & 1946-50), Cincinnati Reds (1950-51 & 1954), 1952-53 (Chicago White Sox). He batted a career .248 with 56 home runs. In the 1947 season he played extensively, appearing in 150 games and batting .265 with 69 RBIs. On cardstock, the Tip-Top cards measure 2.25x3". The card depicts Ryan in a home uniform. The front reads, CONNIE RYAN/Second Base/Boston, N.L. The card back shows an image of a loaf of Tip-Top Bread and advertising copy that reads, in part, "You're out of pep if you don't eat TIP-TOP." The bottom of the card reads, "Compliments of TIP-TOP BAKERS." The cards show various degrees of light foxing, and a few have very minute stains, and one card has some tiny paper loss at one corner. A few cards have minor scuffing at some corners. Considering the over-75-year age of these premium cards, they are in nice condition and make a fine remembrance of the National League's Boston Braves, who later became the Milwaukee Braves and now the current Atlanta Braves. Overall GD condition.
