One of the most important Mullin’s we have ever seen. The Bridge and The Bum- two of Brooklyn and New York’s most enduring symbols. One of glorious achievement, the other, glorious, heartbreaking futility with deep, unabashed pride in both. In “Bloodied but Unbowed”, Mullin brilliantly intertwines the two while capturing the sentiments of the Flatbush faithful. It is the historic 1947 season. The Dodgers, led by rookie sensation, Jackie Robinson, lose to the hated Yankees in seven thrilling but wrenching games. Says The Bum, “ I’m headin’ f’r th’ Bridge… But don’t sprain ya ears lissenin f’r no splash! I’ll be seein’ yez nex’ fall….if ya lucky enough t’ get inta th’ serious !” Eternal hope summoned up from a bottomless well of despair. It’s all here for the Brooklyn fan, Baseball fan, American or anyone who loves New York City. Measures 15” x 18”. Matted and framed in Near Mint condition.
