1955 looked to be a year like any other. Another league pennant collected followed by a frustrating defeat at the hands of the mighty Yanks. Down 0-2 everyone but Dem Bums were looking ahead to next season. Their confidence unshaken and their leader determined, Alston regrouped and orchestrated the greatest comeback in Brooklyn history as his Dodgers captured their first and only title. Shortly following that spectacular performance, Walt was presented with this commemorative Hillerich & Bradsby black bat. Its gold block lettering reads, “Brooklyn Dodgers World Champions 1955,” with all player names surrounding in block or facsimile signature form. Formerly on display at Alston’s hometown, “Buckeye Tavern”, where he was a regular customer and close friend of owner, Earl “Red” Huber. EX condition. Four pinholes in knob. LOA. A brilliant relic from Brooklyn’s brightest moment.
